With the Philadelphia Eagles not signing a safety to play next to Malcolm Jenkins in free agency, all signs look like they will be drafting one. According to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post, Northwestern safety Ibraheim Campbell has an upcoming workout with the Eagles and Chicago Bears.
Campbell has already worked out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans. Campbell is 5-foot-11, 205 lbs. safety but has been productive over his four-year career at Northwestern. He is also a Philadelphia native as he attended Chestnut Hill Academy for high school.
Campbell was a four-year starter and earned second-team All-Big Ten from the conference’s coaches and honorable mention from the media. This past season, he had 54 tackles, four forced fumbles, three pass deflections and three interceptions.
To end off his career, he finished ranked third in the program with 11 career interceptions, 24 pass deflections and 316 career tackles. Wilson also mentions that many analysts have given Campbell a second and third round grade.
With that being said, if the Eagles do go offense with their first round pick, I would not be surprised if they take a look at Campbell. He is a tackling machine, with range and is aggressive, which are all the qualities I want in a safety.
