Report: Eagles have had ‘no meaningful’ contract talks with Sam Bradford

Philadelphia Flyers v Pittsburgh Penguins

Last month, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly set the NFL on fire when free agency began as he traded quarterback Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams for quarterback Sam Bradford. The trade also involved draft picks.

Then, when Kelly spoke to the media about Bradford, he made it clear that the quarterback was not a bargaining chip in a possible trade. Well, according to ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio, no meaningful contract extension talks have happened between Bradford and the Eagles.

With Bradford not yet signing a contract extension that would pay him $12.985 million in 2015, that has led many people around the league to think that Kelly might trade Bradford again in hopes of getting Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Also according to Florio, Bradford is currently willing to sign an extension that will keep him in Philadelphia for this season and beyond but if he is traded then he will not do a new deal.

If Bradford is traded a lot of people think it could be to the Cleveland Browns, who are also linked to having interest in Mariota. But I would highly doubt Bradford would sign an extension in Cleveland.

The situation is still fluid as we might get an idea on Bradford’s future next Thursday night when the NFL Draft begins. Bradford could be calling a new team home by the end of the night.
