With the 2015 NFL Draft beginning tomorrow night at 8:00 pm ET, the rumors are still swirling around Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota and the Philadelphia Eagles’ quest to still get him.
Many analysts and fans are wondering if Kelly will be able to get Mariota and just what is he thinking at this time. Nick Aliotti, who has worked with Kelly for many years as his defensive coordinator at Oregon shed some more light on the situation on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.
“If there’s a way that he can get Marcus Mariota without selling the farm, I think he’s still trying to do that,” Aliotti stated.
“I know Chip and I have a lot of respect for Chip. He has a plan,” Aliotti said. “I’ve had no conversations with Chip so I’m not putting words in his mouth, but I really think that if he can get Marcus Mariota he’s able to do exactly what he wants to do with his offense there in Philly.”
What Aliotti is saying is nothing new as we know that Mariota will fit perfect here in Kelly’s offense, but he makes a point in saying that Kelly is exploring all different trade possibilities. It is going to be pretty hard for the Eagles to go up and get Mariota if the Tennessee Titans select him with the second overall pick. But if Mariota starts sliding down the board to the sixth overall pick, where the New York Jets are selecting, maybe Kelly will not have to give up the farm for his guy.
We will find out tomorrow night if Mariota will be going somewhere else or coming to Philadelphia.
