Recap: Just another miserable night in Detroit

I would like to thank the NBA schedule makers for slotting this game against the AFC Championship. Like most of New England, I didn’t see a whole lot of this mess in Detroit and I’m better off for that.

The Pistons toyed with the Celtics, 103-88.

I’m just going to come out and say it: I HATE THIS TEAM. I love basketball, but they are taking the fun out of it for me. They have the collective attention span and focus of a toddler. There is no commitment to defense on a regular basis. It’s maddening.

I thought they had turned a corner during the 6 game winning streak. I was wrong. Nothing has changed. This roster, as currently constituted, isn’t consistent or talented enough to win in the playoffs.

UPDATE: Doc dropped this bomb to the media:

“I have to find the right combinations or the right guys or we gotta get some guys outta here.”

The Green:

Courtney Lee (16 points) and Jeff Green (15 points) provided some energy and productivity off the bench. Unfortunately, most of the starters stunk. Kevin Garnett deserves credit for 16 points, 7 rebounds in 30 minutes.

The Gross:

Jason Terry had 4 points in 14 minutes. Brandon Bass generated a goose egg in 10 minutes. Paul Pierce shot a respectable 50 % but managed a measly 10 points. Rajon Rondo had a bizarre stat line: 8 points, 4-16 FG, 9 rebounds, 15 assists and 9 turnovers.

The GreenLights:

The Grid:

  • Paul Pierce passed Larry Bird and became the franchise’s all-time leader in steals
  • Boston shot 39% and 26% from 3 FG
  • Kevin Garnett was the only start to attempt a free throw
