Technically, the calendar says “August 31st”, but it’s close enough to September where every football fan in America is anxiously awaiting for the NFL Kickoff Game after Labor Day.  This year, the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots.  (Before anyone asks, the answer is yes.  It pained me very much to have to type that for the fourth time since 2000.)

That pain should go away rather quickly when I realize that the hometown Philadelphia Eagles have looked very good this pre-season, and every game thus far has the offense looking very “Arena League-ish” as I explained to my colleagues.  The team’s 39-26 win at Lambeau Field in Green Bay was the perfect example of that as the first team including quarterback Sam Bradford — who went 10/10 with 2 TDs in the first quarter — looked mighty impressive.

Don’t relish on this too much, though.  For starters, it is just the pre-season, and before you all go book Super Bowl plans, remember there is a whole division this team has to fight through.  It’s not just the Eagles, folks.  There are three other teams in this division, and each team has its own story line headed into this season.  Conversations must be had on each team in the NFC East.

Will the Dallas Cowboys struggle without Demarco Murray — who is now in Philadelphia — and Orlando Scandrick — who was just lost for the season with an ACL tear?

Will the New York Giants be competitive enough to matter in the NFC East or will they simply do just enough to save Tom Coughlin’s job … … again?

Will the Washington Professional Football Team … matter … at all?  (The more important question is which game will quarterback Robert Griffin III explode into a million pieces after a sack.  I know Washington plans to roll into week 1 with Kirk Cousins at quarterback, but we all know the Griffin thing is going to happen, right?)

How explosive and prolific could the Philadelphia Eagles offense be in 2015?  Is the pre-season just an aberration, or is this really what the offense is going to look like?

To answer all of those questions and a lot more, it’s time for another episode of the Monday Morning Conversation.  This week, our fearless leader, Jovan Alford, joins us along with Angela Montoni, and Jalil Phillips.  All of these topics and more NFC East hot takes are discussed, so sit back and enjoy because …

… football!
