Another exciting college football weekend was led by Michigan’s failure against Michigan State on a last-second punt that was fumbled and returned for a touchdown.

It was a terrible turn of events, and ended Michigan’s shot for college football playoff contention in the top 25 college football rankings.

Baylor has risen above the rest of the competition in football by dominating their opponents’ week in and week out. However, Utah has shown to be a solid contender with inspiring wins against Oregon, California, and Arizona State in primetime.

Baylor, seemingly, will roll through the rest of their schedule until they meet in a colossal matchup against Texas Christian University on November 27th with the entire college football world watching.

  1. Baylor – Baylor has dominated opponents since Week 1 with quarterback Seth Russell leading the charge. In 6 games, Russell has thrown for 27 touchdowns and almost 2,000 yards. Russell may be the best offensive player on the Baylor football team but a close second is junior wide receiver Corey Coleman. Coleman has over 800 yards receiving and an astronomical 16 touchdown receptions through 6 games.
  2. Utah – Utah had a chance to shine in primetime and they stole the spotlight with a 34-18 win over Arizona State. Utah, not necessarily the best offensive or defensive team in that nation, has quality players in all facets of their game, which has contributed to their 6-0 start. Utah is now in the drivers seat to reach the Pac-12 championship game. First, they must go through an embattled USC program this Saturday.
  3. TCU – Led by Heisman contender Trevone Boykin, the Horned Frogs rebounded from a scare against Kansas State two weekends ago to take care of Iowa State. Despite only leading Iowa State 24-21 at halftime, the Horned Frogs did not allow a point the rest of the half. TCU’s biggest test of the season will be in the final two weeks when they take on Oklahoma and Baylor.
  4. Ohio State – Ohio State does not get to be the number one team based on last year’s accolades. This is a year with new teams across the country. A number one team is supposed to dominant and play inspiring football. The Buckeyes have done neither against and extremely weak schedule. The Buckeyes, quite possibly, will not face a ranked team until they play Michigan State on November 21st. The weak schedule could, and should, hurt Ohio State when it comes time to determine the top four teams to participate in the College Football Playoff.
