Can college football get any crazier on a week-to-week basis? The answer is yes. It was another wild week across the college football landscape and a week in which some teams title hopes were ended and some made a stronger case for their schools. Oklahoma State had a nice showing against Texas Christian University and Iowa State and vaulted themselves up the rankings. Clemson and Ohio State kept on winning as has been the case all season.
But, after No. 1 Clemson and No. 2 Ohio State, the water gets muddy. Oklahoma State, based on their win against TCU and their undefeated record, comes in at number three. Notre Dame, with their only loss coming against No. 1 Clemson, is in at number four because they have been impressive all year despite losing their starting quarterback and top two running backs. There have been other injuries to the Fighting Irish but they have shown amazing resiliency. The knock on Notre Dame will be their signature wins, which get weaker as the season matures; Temple and possibly Stanford.
Alabama rounds out the top five but their win against LSU, similar to Notre Dame’s weakness, is looking less impressive. Also, Alabama’s only loss? Well, Ole Miss has really struggled after that game and that is going to hurt the Crimson Tide in the eyes of the College Football Playoff committee.
