According to AL.com, the Alabama Crimson Tide are going after highly coveted high school defensive back Jared Mayden. In January, Mayden changed his mind after verbally committing to the Oregon Ducks. Mayden is amongst a number of high profile recruits that have recently migrated away from the Oregon Ducks.
Mayden, listed at 6’1’’ and 190 pounds, has offers from Alabama, Oklahoma, LSU, Florida State and Georgia amonst many other teams nationwide. Currently, speculation has Mayden very hot on the Crimson Tide, and Sooners. On Jan. 15, Mayden officially visited Alabama and he is scheduled for an official visit to Oklahoma on Jan. 22. His Jan. 22 visit will be his fifth and final official visit.
Although Alabama has a national championship on their side James Mayden, Jared’s father, played for Oklahoma basketball in the 1990’s, which could help their cause. Scout has Mayden ranked as the #4 overall cornerback in the nation and the #1 cornerback in all of Texas.
An interview request has been sent to Jared Mayden, but has yet to be returned.
