This marks another trade in the tumultuous career of Versteeg, who is on to his seventh team. Versteeg has had a solid season with the Hurricanes, tallying 33 points in 63 games. Zykov, was a former second round pick of the Kings in the 2013 NHL draft, who has 14 points in his first season in the AHL with the Ontario Reign. Zykov has been underwhelming but is still just 20-years-old and continues the youth movement in Carolina.
On Sunday, the Hurricanes traded Eric Staal to the Rangers and could look to move a veteran like John-Michael Liles before the deadline.
