The New England Patriots signed RFA wide receiver Chris Hogan to a three-year, $12 million offer sheet. The Buffalo Bills declined to match the offer after the Patriots front-loaded the first year at $5.5 million. The Patriots also signed defensive lineman Frank Kearse and linebacker/special teamer Ramon Humber to one-year deals.

Hogan, 27, went undrafted out of Penn State, and bounced around with practice squads until landing with the Bills in 2012.. Hogan has 959 yards receiving in his career along with six touchdowns. Hogan will fill the spot of Brandon LaFell, who the team released this offseason.

Kearse, 27, was a seventh round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins, and made stops with the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins before signing with the Patriots. Kearse has 4.5 sacks and 41 tackles in his career. Kearse will provide depth on the defensive line, and back up young players like Dominique Easley and Malcom Brown.

Humber, 28, went undrafted out of North Dakota State,, and played with the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints before signing in New England. Humber has 147 career tackles and 2.5 sacks, and serves as an effective special teamer, something Bill Belichick appreciates a great deal. Humber will likely continue in that capacity with the Patriots.
