The offseason is somewhat of an afterthought due to the NCAA tournament. I mean who doesn’t love March Madness and Cinderella stories? With that being said, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Philadelphia Eagles made a solid move signing former New York Giants wide receiver Rueben Randle. The deal is for one-year deal, and worth $3 million with $500,000 guaranteed.
Last season, Randle finished with 57 catches for 757 yards, and eight touchdowns. Not spectacular numbers, but nonetheless, he is certainly a viable contributor to this offense. He does have an issue with consistency if you ask some, but in this offense, I strongly believe it’s a good match for a player of his caliber.
With head coach Doug Pederson stating that both Jordan Matthews and Nelson Agholor will be outside targets, the Eagles needed a veteran inside presence that can help them with stable hands and strong speed. Expect big plays in the middle of the field as Randle will be alongside tight end Zach Ertz.
Folks were calling for a veteran wide receiver, and this signing by the Eagles is quality, addressing a major need. He adds depth and strong veteran leadership to a rather young receiving core.
