On Thursday, the New England Patriots made another intriguing acquisition by signing veteran wide receiver Nate Washington to a one-year deal. Washington comes to the Patriots from the Houston Texans, where he totaled 658 yards receiving and four touchdowns.

Washington, 32, went undrafted out of Tiffin University in the 2005 NFL Draft. Washington signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers and spent four years there, before spending the next six with the Tennessee Titans. Washington has 6,954 yards receiving and 44 touchdowns in his 11-year NFL career.
Washington will compete for a spot in a suddenly deep Patriots receiving core that includes Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan, Aaron Dobson and Keshawn Martin. Washington immediately becomes a veteran presence, in a locker room that continues to get younger in an effort to continue to build around quarterback Tom Brady.
The Patriots continue their remake of a roster that saw them make the AFC championship game last season, and win a Super Bowl the year before. Washington is the latest addition, along with Hogan, Chris Long, Jonathan Cooper, Shea McClellin and more.
