Watch: Villanova’s Kris Jenkins hits the game winning three-pointer

Monday night’s National Championship game between the Villanova Wildcats and North Carolina Tar Heels was all that and more. It had all the bells and whistles and the thrill for the dramatic.

When you think of a championship game in any sport, you always think about the game coming down to the final seconds and someone being a hero. On Monday night, there were two heroes in the waning moments of the National Championship game. With under 10 seconds to go, North Carolina Tar Heels guard Marcus Paige knocked down a ridiculous, off balanced three-pointer to tie the game up at 74-74.

Then with 4.7 seconds to go, Villanova got the ball back one more time and this time the hero was none other than forward Kris Jenkins.

This is the first time Villanova has won the national title since 1985, when they pulled off the upset defeating the no. 1 seed Georgetown Hoyas. That 1985 team was special and this 2016 team will go down not only in Villanova history but in Big 5 history as one of the best.

Jenkins finished the game with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field and 2-of-4 from three-point range. But the second three-pointer he made will go down in NCAA Tournament history as one of the greatest shots we’ve seen.
