Eagles weekly recap: Pre-season, free agency, and more

Rick Carlisle

Welcome to another edition of the Eagles weekly recap. Amidst all of the mock draft floating around, the Eagles have still been at it with the free-agency moves. In addition, the 2016 pre-season has been released, and a former Eagle is now relieved. Let’s get into it.

  • The 2016 pre-season match-ups have been released this week. While the exact dates and times have not been announced, we do know the order of opponents:

Week 1: vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Week 2: at Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 3: at Indianapolis Colts

Week 4: vs. New York Jets

  • In keeping with improving the offensive line, the Eagles signed center/guard Stefen Wisniewski to a one-year deal. Wisniewski spent last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, starting all 16 games. With his ability to play both center and guard, this leaves speculation as to whether current starting center Jason Kelce’s job is up for grabs.
  • In news from late last week, the Eagles added another piece to their backfield, signing fullback Ryan Mueller to a two-year deal. Mueller last played with the San Diego Chargers in 2015 as an outside linebacker. His switch to fullback will have him lining up at the position for the first time in five years.
  • Former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has had quite a tumultuous off-season, dealing with pending leagal charges stemming from a Philadelphia nightclub fight with two off-duty police officers. Earlier this week, Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams announced that McCoy will not face any charges. Williams stated that there was not enough evidence to accurately charge the current Buffalo Bill.

That’s it for this week. Stay tuned with Total Sports Live for all the latest involving the Philadelphia Eagles.
