With Kobe Bryant set to play in his final NBA game on Wednesday night, the realization is setting in that Bryant is about to hang up his sneakers for good.
All season long, the tributes to the Black Mamba have been pretty cool from across the NBA, Nike, a commercial from Apple and now rapper Kendrick Lamar.
Lamar, a Compton native and one of hip-hop’s best artists puts together a dope tribute video to the Black Mamba, recalling some of his greatest moments dating all the way back to The Forum in Inglewood, California, where the Lakers used to call home.
Lamar speaks about Bryant’s accomplishments set to his song Untitled #7, from his latest project “Untitled, Unmastered.” In the video, Lamar says, “How do empires last when there is no longer an emperor?”
