Eagles weekly recap: Eagles schedule, Draft 2016, Fletcher Cox rumors

.

Welcome to another edition of the Eagles weekly recap. The NFL Draft, and 2016 season are quickly approaching, and the Eagles are continuing to prepare for September. Let’s get into it:

  • On Thursday, the NFL officially revealed the 2016 regular season. With that, we now know the Eagles 2016 schedule, and when key match-ups will take place. Of note, six teams on the schedule (WAS, MIN, PIT, SEA, CIN, GB) made the 2015 playoffs.
  • One of the big names floating around for the Eagles number eight draft pick is former Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott, and the former Buckeye worked out for the Eagles this week. Elliott has stated that the Eagles have shown the most interest in him thus far.
  • Speaking of the number eight draft pick, there are some who feel that the pick could possibly belong to another team come draft day. On Wednesday night the Los Angeles Rams and Tennessee Titans completed a trade, giving the Rams the number-one pick. Now that it seems the Rams may target former Cal quarterback Jared Goff, it is possible that the Eagles could trade up to number two for former North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz. Some even believe the deal could include all-pro defensive tackle Fletcher Cox. Despite the speculation, EVP of personnel Howie Roseman has remained adamant that the Eagles want to keep Cox.
  • An interesting report from 94 WIP radio host Howard Eskin came out this week, stating that Fletcher Cox turned down an offer from the Eagles worth around $100 million, with $60 million guaranteed. Since then, Cox’s agent Todd France ripped the report and Eskin, calling it “just wrong, careless, and bad reporting.”
