Over the last few months, it has been well documented that the Bennett brothers (Michael and Martellus) have no filter when it comes to speaking their minds on certain topics. It’s what makes people like and dislike them at the same time.
ESPN’s Mika Kimes gave us all a glimpse into their world after she did a feature story on the brothers. The interview touches a wide range of topics including what the brothers think about other players and coaches in the NFL. One of the players they were asked about was Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford.
Here’s what the Bennett brothers had to say about Bradford:
(Both smirk.)
Michael: “The greatest quarterback in the NFL.”
Martellus: “Vicious. Competitive.”
Michael: “A real Joe Montana.”
You can just smell the sarcasm, can’t you? Michael Bennett’s disdain for Bradford is no secret, though.
This is what Bennett said in an interview with 710 ESPN Seattle about Bradford’s contract. He is currently unhappy with his contract in Seattle.
“I listened to Sam Bradford again. I just almost threw up,” Bennett said. “I can’t believe Sam Bradford is complaining about making $40 million in the next two years, and because he actually has to compete for a position. This guy, this guy right here definitely sets a bad tone of what a player should be.
“If I was his teammate … how can you play with a guy that doesn’t want to compete at a high level and feels like his position should be solidified without even putting up the stats or the wins to back that up?”
Even though, Bennett felt that way about Bradford, it was unfair for him to rip the quarterback because there was a lot of hearsay going around about him being unhappy and not wanting to be in Philadelphia. Some of it was stirred on by his agent Tom Condon and the other half by pure speculation.
Yes, we all know Bradford takes his fair share of criticism as he is former no. 1 pick, who has not lived up to his potential, unlike Bennett, who has exceeded expectations as an undrafted free agent. Luckily, all of this will be settled on the field as the Eagles will travel to CenturyLink Field in Week 11 to take on the Seahawks.
