Welcome back to another edition of the Eagles weekly recap. The Eagles are set to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lincoln Financial Field in four days, but before that happens, some players have to get healthy first.
Let’s take a look:
- This week of the camp has not been nice to the Eagles as multiple players have gone down with injuries. To start off, earlier this week, offensive tackle Jason Peters and safety Malcolm Jenkins left the practice field with quad and hamstring injuries. Then, if it couldn’t get worse, on Friday, wide receiver Jordan Matthews left the field after getting hit low by rookie safety Jalen Mills. Thankfully, Matthews only has a knee sprain. Someone needs to wrap this team up in bubble wrap before Thursday night’s preseason opener.
- Donovan McNabb speaks about the Eagles’ current quarterback situation. In an exclusive interview with Dan Levy of BillyPenn.com, McNabb spoke about a wide range topics including how dumb the Eagles fumbled the quarterback situation this offseason along with his thoughts on how he thinks Doug Pederson will do as a head coach.
- Former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles finds a new home. After Foles was released by the Los Angeles Rams, there were a lot of reports going around that the Dallas Cowboys were interested in the former Eagle. Well, that did not come to fruition as Foles spurned the Cowboys and reunited with his former coach Andy Reid in Kansas City. With the Chiefs, Foles will be looking to solidify himself as the backup to Alex Smith as Kansas City has five quarterbacks on their roster.
- Lastly, in this week’s recap, the Eagles could be upgrading the linebacker unit very soon. On Saturday evening, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles are in “heavy negotiations” with former Detroit Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch. If the Eagles can sign Tulloch, it will give them much-needed depth at the position.
That’s it for this week. Stay tuned with Total Sports Live for the latest involving the Philadelphia Eagles.
