According to ESPN’s Chris Mortenson, Titan LB Ryan Fowler is facing a suspension as a result of violating the league’s policy for performance-enhancing drugs.
Fowler, coming off of reconstructive shoulder surgery, missed the last two regular season games and was also on the sidelines during the Titans’ playoff loss to San Diego.
Stephen Tulloch will man the MLB position if Fowler is unable to perform. Tulloch filled in for an injured Fowler last season, accumulating two double-digit tackle performances against the Chiefs and the Jets.
If Fowler is lost for a significant portion of 2008, the Titans shouldn’t miss a beat with Tulloch in the starting lineup. Tulloch is an athletic guy with some upside who should continue to get better next year.
The loss of Fowler, however, would impact the Titans’ depth at the position. Colin Allred is also on the roster, but his NFL experience only consists of three tackles while filling in briefly for Tulloch during Fowler’s absence.
