After selecting WR Kenny Britt and DT Sen’Derrick Marks yesterday, the Tennessee Titans enter the second day of the draft armed with eight more picks, half of them non-tradable compensatory selections,
I’m generally pleased with those picks but if I had to select one thing I’m disappointed in so far it’s Tennessee’s failure to package some picks and trade up to draft some targeted players.
There are still some good players out there, not to mention some possible diamonds in the rough, such as former seventh-round pick Cortland Finnegan turned out to be.
Four of the players Tennessee invited for a visit are on:personnel guru Gil Brandt’s list of top players still available:
CB D.J. Moore, Vanderbilt
TE Shawn Nelson, Southern Miss
RB Andre Brown, North Carolina
DE Lawrence Sidbury, Richmond
I’m looking forward to seeing if the Titans make a move to trade up to draft any of those guys.
Needs that have not yet been addressed include cornerback, linebacker and offensive line. Two corners are a strong possibility. Tennessee still has the following draft picks to address those needs and/or trade up:
Round 3 – #94 overall
Round 4 – #130
Round 4 – #135 (compensatory)
Round 5 – #173 (compensatory)
Round 6 – #203
Round 6 – #206 (compensatory)
Round 7 – #239
Round 7 – #242 (compensatory)
What did you think about Day One? What would you like to see the Titans do on Day Two?
