Andrew, you got your wish.
Armed with a plethora of second-day draft selections, the Tennessee Titans traded for New England’s #89 pick. In exchange for the additional 3rd rounder, the Titans relinquished a 2010 2nd round pick to former Titan GM Floyd Reese and the Patriots.
With their newly-acquired 3rd rounder, the Titans picked up South Carolina TE Jared Cook.
Cook’s draft stock increased mightily as a result of his outstanding performance at the NFL Combine. His 4.50 forty-yard dash must of impressed the Titans, especially considering the team’s recent infatuation with guys who perform well at the league’s annual meat market.
Selecting Cook may be a sign that the Titans are contemplating life without Bo Scaife in the near future. Scaife, disgruntled with receiving the franchise tag and the team’s inability to provide him with a long-term deal, may not have a future in Nashville beyond this year.
Judging by his scouting report, Cook is an all-around tight end with the potential to contribute in the passing game as well as run-blocking.
What are your thoughts on Jared Cook?
