Tennessee Titans add OT Troy Kropog in 4th round

With their 4th round compensatory selection in the 2009 draft, the Titans took addressed their need for for additional depth on the line by Tulane OT Troy Kropog. Kropog, a Louisiana native who stands 6’6″ 309#, red-shirted his first year with the Green Wave and sat his second, but started at left tackle for his last three seasons.  From the scouting reports, he’s a guy who could play the blind side but the Titans likely see him as the replacement for Daniel Loper as OT depth.  He doesn’t really fit the model as a guard, plus there were more natural guards on the board, most notably ex-Oklahoma Sooner Duke Robinson, who would have been my choice for this pick.  One thing I wonder is if Mike Otto’s roster spot is in danger-I don’t think he’s a guard either, and I’m not sure the Titans keep 2 developmental OTs with Roos and Stewart in the fold for a while.

For more on Kropog, see his Tulane bio, a chat he did with ESPN before the Alabama game last fall, or this pre-draft report about his readiness to continue on.

What do you think?  Like the pick, or did the Titans have other needs?
