The rejuvenated Tennessee Titans will look to continue their winning ways as they face-off against the Buffalo Bills at LP Field this Sunday.
This won’t be the first meeting between the two teams in 2009. As many of you remember, the Titans defeated the Bills 21-18 in the league’s annual preseason opener a.k.a. the Hall of Fame game.
My thoughts on this week’s upcoming Titans/Bills clash are after the jump.
Fantasy Football Tip of the Week: Start CJ
Chris Johnson has experienced anything but a sophomore slump in 2009. Fresh off a scintillating rookie campaign, CJ has continued his playmaking ways by vaulting to the top of heap as the league’s numero uno rusher.
This week, the Titans, CJ (and the fantasy football owners who have him) should be licking their chops as they prepare to face the league’s worst run defense. At the season’s halfway mark, the Bills have given up an average of 173.6 yards per game, while allowing opposing ball-carriers to manage a ridiculous 5.1 yards per scamper.
Considering his recent exploits and the Bills’ rush-defense woes, it’s a fairly safe bet that CJ will have yet another solid performance against Buffalo on Sunday.
The Titans must continue their opportunistic ways
The ability to force turnovers and apply pressure to opposing quarterbacks have served as two key ingredients in the Titans’ two-game post-bye win streak. After struggling to do either on a consistent basis during their dreadful 0-6 start, Chuck Cecil’s boys have been solid the last two winning Sundays, accumulating a total of six turnovers and eight sacks against the Jags and 49ers.
The Titan defense will have a good chance of being disruptive against a Buffalo offensive unit that has been less-than-impressive in 2009. Despite possessing playmakers such as Terrell Owens, Lee Evans and Marshawn Lynch, the Bills have the league’s 29th ranked offense.
Facing an underachieving Buffalo offense, let’s see if the Titans can keep up their newfound defensive playmaking ways this weekend.
Add another chapter to the Vince Young comeback story
The much-maligned Tennessee Titan signal-caller is making the most of perhaps his last chance to show us that he can be the team’s present and future QB.
Efficiency has reigned supreme for VY in his first two starts. He’s completing the vast majority of his passes while avoiding the trappings of turning over the football. While his running ability hasn’t translated into big gainers (yet), the opposing defense has to respect Vince’s wheels.
Against Buffalo, Vince doesn’t have to be the hero (that’s Chris Johnson’s role)…he only has to provide the same type of solid play that has contributed to the team’s renaissance in recent weeks.

Prediction Time
Defensively, the re-energized Titans will wreak havoc on Trent Edwards and the Buffalo offense. When the Titans have the ball, expect plenty of CJ but at the end of the day, we’ll be talking about how Vince stole the show with a long run or two of his own en route to another Titan victory.
