I just heard this news on the radio on my way home this evening. Titans first-round draft pick defensive end Derrick Morgan has a torn ACL and will be out for the remainder of the season.
In the ‘it could have been worse’ news category, defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks has a strained MCL and will be out three or four weeks. Receiver Justin Gage has a sprained hamstring and will also be out several weeks.
The Titans have four games remaining before their bye, so it’s very possible Marks and Gage won’t return until the first game after the bye, which is at Miami on November 14.
That’s really bad news for Morgan, who was starting to have a promising year. The loss of Marks will also be felt. Depth is an issue at DT, with only Tony Brown, Jason Jones and Jovan Haye available. Brown has returned from his knee injury but still doesn’t look 100%. I’m sure this will stir up the talk about bringing back Fat Albert.
I’m not going to miss Gage too much. Maybe this will give Damian Williams some more playing time, so maybe something good might come out of that situation.
