The list of inactives is out for today’s game, and includes the following names
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
DT Brodrick Bunkley, LB Keenan Clayton, LB Clay Harbor, RB James Harrison, WR DeSean Jackson, CB Trevard Lindley, OT Jason Peters, QB Michael Vick (#3 QB)
TENNESSEE TITANS
DT Tony Brown, LB Rennie Curran, G Ryan Durand, WR Justin Gage, S Robert Johnson, T/G Troy Kropog, CB Jason McCourty, QB Rusty Smith (#3 QB)
With Vick as the #3 QB, Mike Kafka will be backing up Kevin Kolb. Jason Avant gets the start at wide receiver in place of Jackson. King Dunlap should start at left tackle once again. For the Titans, Tony Brown seems to have fallen on the wrong edge of the line, so Amon Gordon returns to the lineup. Verner gets another start in place of McCourty, and I’d expect to see the Eagles test his deep speed. Collins gets the start for VY, just as I’d expected he would all week, but VY is healthy enough they’re keeping Rusty as QB3. Damian Williams also gets the start with Britt being punished for his gross stupidity.
The key to today’s game in my mind is the key to Kevin Kolb. There are really two issues here: first, are the Eagles able to protect him, or are the Titans able to force him to make unplanned quick decisions. Second, he had a good game last week against the Falcons because he was able to throw with anticipation against the Falcons’ predictable coverages. I’d expect the Titans to be harder to read than the Falcons were, and Kolb will have to make throws he wasn’t making before last week. The things to watch for here are, first, how much 3-step passing do the Eagles do, and do they start the game with it or switch to it out of necessity, and second, how much work does RB LeSean McCoy get in the short passing game.
