Titans Day Three draft preview

On the final day of the 2011 draft, the Titans will have six picks, as follows.  Fourth round, #109 and #130.  Fifth round, #142.  Sixth round, #175.  Seventh round, #212 and #251.  The Titans still have needs at defensive end, middle linebacker, guard/center and strong safety.  They’ll also probably draft another corner.

Total Titans will be here throughout the day following the draft and we’d be honored to have you with us.

Optimum Scouting has this quick reference of the best players still available and some of the names are intriguing, though they’re not always ranked in accordance with some of the other draft websites.  Here are some of the names that caught my eye, after the jump.

Defensive ends Pernell McPhee, Greg Romeus, Jeremy Beal.  I like McPhee better than the other two, especially given the Titans’ new philosophy about the position. Edit: Christian Ballard also still available – could play in either a 3-4 or 4-3. Probably should have already been drafted.

Interior offensive linemen Clint Boling, Jason Pinkston, Marcus Cannon, Jake Kirkpatrick, Kris O’Dowd.  Pinkston and Cannon will also be looked at as tackles by some teams.  I’m sure Munch would love to get one of these guys.  I wonder if he has enough clout to persuade Reinfeldt to spend a fourth-round pick on one of them.

Inside linebackers Quan Sturdivant, Greg Jones, Josh Bynes, Mike Mohammed.  I like the first two a lot better since they’re more complete all around players.  Bynes and Mohamed are each more one-dimensional, though in different ways.

Strong safeties DeAndre McDaniel, Tyler Sash, Jeron Johnson, Joe Lefeged, Mark Legree.  If you like the way Bob Sanders played, you’ll like Jeron Johnson too.
