I’ve been invited by the Denver Broncos blog BroncoTalk.net to participate in their mock draft by making the pick for the Tennessee Titans. I’d like to ask you, our readers here on Total Titans, for your help in making that selection.
18 picks have now been made and our pick is due Friday. One of the Broncos fans just had a little fun, making a frivolous pick for the rival Chargers at #18 by selecting a punter, Drew Butler, for them. I don’t know if that pick will stand or if the commish will override that one and select someone else.
The top defensive ends have all been taken. So have G David DeCastro and DT Fletcher Cox. The following are the four highest ranked players still available:
DT Michael Brockers, LSU – He’s ranked as the 13th best prospect on Walter Football’s consensus big board, a compilation of the top big boards, including Mel Kiper’s, Scouts Inc.’s and CBS’. Brockers played all across the line for LSU last year, from 0-technique nose tackle to 3-technique DT and 5-tech DE. He’s young, raw, strong and still growing and developing. He and Jurrell Casey would make a formidable pair of run stuffing DTs for the Titans. Oh, and as a bonus, Brockers can also rush the passer.
CB Dre Kirkpatrick, Alabama – Ranked 17th on Walter’s consensus. Tom pointed out in this post that the Titans could possibly draft Kirkpatrick as a conversion (safety) player. Kirkpatrick could also provide Tennessee with a third solid corner. Whether as a corner, safety, or some combo thereof, Kirkpatrick seems like he could really enhance the secondary.
WR Kendall Wright, Baylor – 20th on Walter’s big board. Although WR isn’t a great need, Wright could immediately upgrade the receiving corps. He’d pick up a lot of the slack if Kenny Britt doesn’t return to pre-injury form and he’d provide a great complementary target if Britt does.
G Cordy Glenn, Georgia – 21st on Walter’s board. Although the Titans have never drafted a really big guard, they did sign Duke Robinson, listed at 330 pounds, this offseason, so perhaps the massive 345-pound Glenn wouldn’t be out of the question. Glenn, who played LG, LT and RG for Georgia, would be the top interior OL in the draft if not for DeCastro, who’s the top guard prospect since Steve Hutchinson. Glenn is also viewed by some as a future NFL right tackle. I think he’d look good lined up as the Titans’ right guard.
I’d like to take Brockers if he’s still available when I turn in my selection on Friday. If he’s not there, my next choice would be Glenn, followed by Kirkpatrick and then Wright.

Something else that may interest you – trades are allowed in this mock and the Dolphins moved up from #8 to #1 to select Andrew Luck. They gave up considerably more in this mock than the Redskins gave the Rams in the upcoming real draft.
