Surveying some mock drafts from a Titans perspective

There are two primary reasons why I wanted to survey some of the top mock drafts, to see who the prognosticators think the Titans might select and also to see which of the top prospects might still be available when the Titans go on the clock at #20.

Twenty of the top mock drafts were surveyed for this project.  In the first part, I’ll list the mocks, linking to each, and the player they predicted to become a Tennessee Titan.  In the second part, I’ll show which player was projected most often for which team.  Click on “read more” for the results after the jump.

Gilmore was the consensus pick for the Titans, named in seven of the twenty mocks.  Kirkpatrick and Mercilus were each selected in four mocks.  Perry, Brockers, Poe, Ingram and Konz were each selected as the Titans’ pick in one mock draft.

Next, the consensus picks for the first 19 teams.  The number in parentheses indicates the number of mocks which selected that player at that spot.

Footnotes to consensus picks:

* Glenn was selected in 3 mocks as the Cardinals pick at #13.  Interestingly, 14 of the 20 mocks had an offensive lineman going to Arizona.  Reiff was actually selected in 5 mocks, compared to Glenn’s 3, but Reiff was also a consensus for the Bills at #10.  The other o-linemen projected for the Cardinals were DeCastro, Jonathan Martin and Mike Adams, who were each named in two mocks.

** Gilmore was also a consensus for two teams, at #17 for the Bengals and at #20 for the Titans.

*** In the closest of all the consensus picks, there was a six-way tie at #19 for the Bears.  Each of the following players were named in two mocks – Perry, Martin, Kirkpatrick, Poe, Floyd and Wright.  I broke the tie by selecting Floyd, since he had the highest average draft position of those six players in the 20 mocks which were surveyed.  Floyd’s ADP in this survey was 12.5; he was picked as early as #7 for the Jaguars in three different mocks.
