The inactives are out for today's game at LP Field between the Tennessee Titans and the Arizona Cardinals, and here they are.
ARIZONA CARDINALS: TE Rob Housler, QB Ryan Lindley, OLB Dontay Moch, DE Ronald Talley, S Curtis Taylor, G Earl Watford, CB Ryan Williams
TENNESSEE TITANS: WR Justin Hunter, C Kevin Matthews, DT Mike Martin, DB Micah Pellerin, QB John Skelton, OT Byron Stingily, WR Damian Williams
Well, then. Justin Hunter is a healthy inactive for what's reportedly a violation of team rules. The other surprise is Damian Williams down again-especially with Hunter out, I'm not sure I get why he's healthy and not playing. (UPDATE: Williams also reportedly violated team rules.) Akeem Ayers and Alterraun Verner are both active after being listed as questionable, which is no surprise.
For Arizona, a groin injury had Housler doubtful, while Carson Palmer and Michael Floyd both play after being listed as questionable. Housler was actually a reasonable valuable player for the Cardinals, ranking fourth on the team in receptions. They may use more Jim Dray, but I'd expect more 3WR sets with Floyd, Larry Fitzgerald, and Andre Roberts.
On the other side of the ball, Arizona has a fearsome front seven. I still think this is a winnable game for the Titans, but Fitzpatrick will have to perform very well under what's likely to be pressure. Calais Campbell could present some real problems for Michael Roos, and gave him fits at times when these two teams have faced off before and is now a better player. It's also a big challenge for the interior of the line, as Todd Bowles inherited Ray Horton's tendency for attacking the A gaps with multiple rushers. Can Andy Levitre, Brian Schwenke, Chance Warmack, and the back stay on the same page? My guess is the Titans will use a fair amount of heavy protection sets, including maybe more 12 personnel with Delanie Walker going out in the pattern and Craig Stevens or Taylor Thompson staying in to block.
I'll be chiming in during the game on Twitter, so follow and yap at me there if you so desire. Recap after the game, maybe finally more content during the week.
