Patrick Bailey, Beau Brinkley, Mike Otto, Micah Pellerin, Chris Spencer, Daimion Stafford, and Leon Washington each only appeared on special teams. Rusty Smith was active but did not appear in the game.
1. The 39 snaps were not a season low for CJ, but 27 was the most Shonn Greene had played this year. 23 was the second-most for a fullback this season, after Collin Mooney's 28 in that Rams game I compared yesterday's contest to in my recap.
2. With the return of the run game came a return to early-season TE usage-more snaps for Craig Stevens and Taylor Thompson, while Delanie Walker played a modest percentage of the time instead of the vast majority.
3. One question with the wide receiving corps was whether Justin Hunter's ascent would continue with Damian Williams fully available for return duties. At first, Hunter's workload may have been just a function of Williams being forced into the return role, and the Titans (reasonably) not wanting him to do both that and play significant snaps on offense. With Hunter playing three times as often this week, consider this one at least tentatively answered.
4. The previous Jaguars game remains the only one where the Titans have made an in-game change on the offensive line. I would classify that as a pleasant change compared to last season.
5. Can Derrick Morgan and Jurrell Casey get a good defensive line teammate, maybe a pass-rushing end, or will the Titans be content with two stalwarts and a rotating cast of occasionally-used sidekicks? My preference is obviously for the former, given that I recommend the Titans draft a defensive lineman with a high pick about every year.
6. "Spitballing" continues to be how I would describe the Titans' linebacker usage. As noted in the recap, Colin McCarthy get the start at WLB, though Zach Brown still played a good amount. Akeem Ayers playing time went down again, but how much of that was "just" coming off the field in nickel, which is something they should have been doing all year?
7. Coty Sensabaugh watch, this week featuring Blidi Wreh-Wilson v. opposing WR3: Wreh-Wilson 34 snaps, Ace Sanders 32 snaps. Close enough for me.
