According to the NFL’s official player participation information, here’s how the Tennessee Titans lined up in yesterday’s 30-16 loss to the Houston Texans

James Anderson, Beau Brinkley, Brandon Ghee, Quentin Groves, Brandon Harris, and Chris Spencer each only appeared on special teams. Jake Locker was active but did not appear in the game.
Notes and whatnot:
1. The last regular season game where Jake Locker was active but did not play was the 2011 season finale against the Texans.
2. Shonn Greene’s only carry came on the Titans’ first offensive play. Asked about it after the game, Ken Whisenhunt declared it was a package thing and the Titans didn’t go back to that package. Bishop Sankey has now led Titans running backs in snaps for six consecutive games.
3. Please be healthy after the bye week, Taylor Thompson, so the Titans can run actual 12 sets and have options for 21 personnel.
4. Derek Hagan’s previous high in a game was 7 snaps against the Bengals and Washington. Percentage-wise, this was the most Kendall Wright had been on the field since Indianapolis in Week 4.
5. I’m going to pretend Byron Stingily’s appearance over Chris Spencer means the Titans figured out you should play a tackle, who has experience playing in space, as a tight end, instead of a guard. I know, I know, it’s not quite that simple.
6. Ropati Pitoitua snaps v. Mike Martin’s the last three games Pitoitua’s been up: 29-28, 33-25, 34-31. Another week’s evidence there is a rotation shift ongoing, or to be more precise, has actually happened. Of course, the Titans may also be limited Pitoitua’s snaps because of his multiple hand injuries. The Baltimore game after the bye could be instructive.
7. This was the first game Quentin Groves did not appear on defense.
8. Zaviar Gooden made it back on the field on defense for a play after not being there the last two games.
9. Marqueston Huff 54 snaps, opposing WR3 Damaris Johnson 44 snaps. Huff actually got the start; did the Titans consider that a snap of their Penny (3 CB, 1 S) package, or was Huff a safety on that play like the gamebook thinks he was? My bet is the former.
10. Michael Griffin has played every snap through eight weeks, the only Titans defender to do so. Congratulations to him for his durability. On offense, Andy Levitre, Michael Oher, and Chance Warmack have played every snap, while Brian Schwenke has only missed one. Of course, they’ve had to play 96 fewer snaps than Griffin. Playing 12 fewer snaps a game than the other team is what you might call bad.
