In what should be three hours and change, the miserable 2014 Tennessee Titans season will be over. Between now and then, they have a game to play, at LP Field against the Indianapolis Colts. So, that game. First up, the inactives:
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: TE Dwayne Allen, OT Gosder Cherilus, ILB Jerrell Freeman, NT Zach Kerr, CB Sheldon Price, G Joe Reitz, OLB Bjoern Werner
TENNESSEE TITANS: OT Terren Jones, OT Taylor Lewan, QB Zach Mettenberger, OLB Dontay Moch, DL Ropati Pitoitua, WR Rico Richardson, DB Jemea Thomas
Customarily, a.k.a. when I’m not busy with other things and then sick, I write a post before the final regular season game at LP Field mentioning it could be the home crowd’s last chance to show appreciation for a number of players. There are a whole boatload of them, as Paul Kuharsky outlined, and that’s just the players with expiring contracts. You can throw in the Shonn Greene’s and Kamerion Wimbley’s, who have years left on their current contracts they seem unlikely to see, and with Ropati Pitoitua a healthy scratch once again maybe he’ll be on that list (nice extension, Ruston).
My default Week 17 preview is “Who cares, wins.” That’s potentially the Colts, who are almost but not quite locked into the #4 seed (if Bengals-Steelers ends in a tie, they’ll be the #3 seed with a win). Of course, it would be just like the Titans to blow draft position with a meaningless season-ending win.
I’ll be yapping about the game on Twitter, so follow and yell at me there if you wish. Snap report tomorrow, then it’s figuring out what’s going to happen this offseason.
