Life continues apace. More detailed content later this week, as my schedule and need to do other things permit. In the interim, I strongly recommend this analysis of Justin Hunter by Matt Harmon, part of his very interesting Reception Perception series.
The NFL preseason schedule was announced last week. The Titans are slated to play the following games:
Week 1, TBD Aug. 13-16, at Atlanta
Week 2, Aug. 23, vs. St. Louis (FOX)
Week 3, TBD Aug. 27-30, at Kansas City
Week 4, TBD Sept. 3/4, vs. Minnesota
My level of excitement about this announcement could be accurately inferred from the observation I didn’t even bother to crank out a short post about it until several days after the announcement. My normal interest in the preseason schedule is only about which games I, as an out of market fan, might be interested in attending.
The marquee game is obvious, Jeff Fisher’s return to LP Field as head coach of the Rams. It’s the only game set for broadcast on national TV (NFL Network may pick up one of the other games) and the only game that seems likely to draw major interest unless the Titans take a quarterback at number two (I’m still skeptical).
The key games are the second and third ones. What I like to see there are solid teams with quality quarterbacks; both the Missouri teams are at least respectable, but neither has exactly what I’m looking for in terms of a test for the Tennessee defense, whether that’s Nick Foles or whoever or Alex Smith. As far as preseason schedules go, though, it is one.
Final dates and times for the three preseason games not being nationally televised will be announced at a later today. Those games will be televised by the local broadcast networks of the teams involved.
