Hornets Win Streak Extends to 5; Knock of Lowly Knicks

There are 2 times that I hate writing any sort of recaps.  I don’t like writing them when we have been blown out.  That is obvious first choice because emotion drives the words to a negative place that I don’t like to go to.  You know what I’m talking about.  I’m sure you’ve been on Twitter during those blowouts and seen that Al should be traded, Lance should be traded, Coach Clifford and company should all be fired, Rich Cho doesn’t know what he’s doing, etc.

Yeah…I hate those.

When we blow a team out is the other side of the coin for me in writing recaps.  I can spout off stats and do my best to paint a picture of how well we played.  Truth of the matter is that in the blowout games, there’s usually a reason the other team isn’t playing worth a darn, and we are just man-handling them.  Saturday’s “nooner” was one such scenario that I don’t enjoy writing.  That’s why you’re getting an article from me on Monday.  If you want me to spout stats, I can oblige:

Kemba Walker = 28 points/7 rebounds/1 assist/2 turnovers/1 steal

PJ Hairston = 15 points/4 rebounds/1 assist/1 turnover/1 steal

Bismack Biyombo = 14 points/12 rebounds/1 assist/3 turnovers/1 steal/1 block

Brian Roberts = 14 points/4 rebounds/5 assists/1 turnover

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist = 10 points/9 rebounds/1 assist

Gerald Henderson = 9 points/3 rebounds/3 assists/4 turnovers

Jason Maxiell = 7 points/3 rebounds/1 assist/1 steal/2 blocks

Marvin Williams = 6 points/5 rebounds/2 assists/1 turnover/4 steals/1 block

Noah Vonleh = 3 points/1 rebound/1 assist/1 turnover/1 block

Jeffery Taylor = 2 points/3 rebounds/2 assists/2 turnovers

Cody Zeller = 2 points

All 11 players that checked into the game scored some points.  We just beat the Knicks in every stat line.  Rebounds, assists, field goal percentage, 3-point percentage…they did get us in foul shooting.

Guys, I just can’t point anything out right now.  In a game like that, I can say that we did everything right, but against a team that bad, the only thing I can say is that it is good that we didn’t lose.  We used to lose games we shouldn’t.

I can only hope that this rest doesn’t allow for too much rust to build up on the guys.  We face the Spurs on Wednesday.  I can only hope that our confidence level is at an all-time high, and we can keep up with the ball.  The Spurs are a team that I wish we could model ourselves after.  They have excellent ball movement, and take smart shots.  I believe that we can win this game, but, just as in the past 5 games, it’s going to take a team effort.

I’m wondering now what the timetable is for the return of Lance Stephenson and Al Jefferson is.  If you follow me on Twitter, you’re sure to see me ask Rick Bonnell within the next hour whether or not he’s heard the availability of Lance Stephenson is for Wednesday’s game.   Al, I don’t expect yet.  If he is healthy, the bigger question becomes…who do you start?  Hendo or Lance?  I go with what’s working, but that’s just me.

Let’s Go Hornets!
