Wizards rout Hornets 95-69

The Charlotte Hornets came into Monday night’s home match-up with the Washington Wizards winners of five in a row, while the Wizards have been reeling as of late.

That didn’t seem to matter much, as Washington pulled out to a big lead in the first quarter, and, while Charlotte kept it close at times, they were unable to close the gap enough to have a fighting chance.

This game was a complete mismatch, as the Hornets looked too tired to be interested in defense, leaving the lane wide open for Marcin Gortat (20 points) and John Wall (15 points, nine assists). Bradley Beal got back on track as well, scoring 14 points. Washington demolished Charlotte on the glass as well, out-rebounding the Hornets 49-37.

A lone bright spot for Charlotte was Al Jefferson who finished with 14 points on 7 of 14 shooting, and hauled in five rebounds.

Cody Zeller exited the game with a strained shoulder in the first quarter and did not return, it is uncertain if he will play on Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings.
