Wolves 103, Mavericks 109

Reversing their course to defeat, the Timberwolves fell behind early
Wednesday night at American Airlines Center, then tried to revive
themselves as their opponents have so often so far this season and lost
for the 11th time in their first 13 games, 109-103 to the Dallas
Mavericks.

Wolves record: 2-11

Losing a game is never acceptable, but coach Randy Wittman was pleased with the way the Wolves responded after falling behind.
The Wolves got within 86-83 with 8:30 remaining in the fourth quarter but never
got closer. Al Jefferson scored 20 of his 31 points in the second half.

Also from Alonzo:
Juwan Howard and Trenton Hassell, former Wolves who
now are with the Mavericks, didn’t play. Dallas coach Avery Johnson
said Hassell needs to improve his conditioning.

The Timberwolves, on the other hand, are simply feeling their way through the young season. I talked to Al Jefferson pre-game and he said the biggest lesson they’ve learned so far is that if they play together for 48 minutes they’re a pretty good team. They’ve done it twice and won both games. On the flip side, when they don’t play together for 48 minutes they lose.

31 Season-high points for Al Jefferson, one from his career high.
