Wolves Updates 12/7

SLAM Online has a pretty amazing drawing of Al Jefferson done by Joel Kimmel.

Forbes ranks the league’s "most valuable teams" and the Wolves come in at #22.

According to acting head coach Jerry Sichting, Wittman might rejoin the
Timberwolves in Washington on Tuesday. Minnesota began its game against
the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday 0-1 under Sichting.

"He should be ready by then," Sichting said. "I think that’s what the
plan is anyway. Just from the sound of his voice, he sounded a lot
better this morning. He’s been in so much pain he didn’t sound like
himself the couple days previous to his surgery."

Wolves executives Fred Hoiberg and Jim Stack attended Tuesday’s Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden, where they watched Kansas State’s Michael Beasley, Memphis’ Derrick Rose and USC’s O.J. Mayo play in a doubleheader. All three could be high lottery picks if each leaves college after his freshman season.

The coaching staff has given several reasons why Green hasn’t played more. Earlier this season,
Wittman said he wasn’t happy with Green’s shot selection. Wittman
acknowledged that Green is one of the team’s best jump shooters when he
takes good shots. Sichting offered a new issue Thursday regarding the
lack of playing time.

"Mostly, being a little more solid defensively,"
Sichting said. "Gerald gives effort. He loves to play. He’s playing a
big game of catch-up, not going to college, which a lot of these (NBA)
guys are in the same boat as far as that goes. He’s got a great
attitude. He listens. He tries. It’s just a matter of focusing on the
defensive end."

The good news for the Wolves is that guard Randy Foye has been running without any problems from his kneecap stress reaction. The bad news is center Theo Ratliff’s knee problems might trouble him all season.
