Jefferson named West’s player of the week

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Al Jefferson was named the NBA’s Western
Conference Player of the Week for games played Jan. 21-27, it was
announced by the league Monday. This is the second weekly honor of
Jefferson’s career and first as a member of the Timberwolves.
 
  
Jefferson led the Wolves to their first winning streak (two games) of
the season and their first winning week (3-1) of the season and
averaged 28.8 points and 12.8 rebounds doing so. He had double-double
games in points and rebounds in those three victories over Golden
State, the Suns and the Nets. The Wolves’ lone loss came by a point
Friday at Boston.
 
 
Here’s a closer look at his week:
Jan. 21 at Golden State: 21 points and 12 rebounds in a 109-108 win over the Warriors.
Jan. 23 vs. Phoenix: 39 points and 15 rebounds in a 117-107 victory against the Suns.
Jan. 25 at Boston: 15 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in an 87-86 loss to the Celtics.
Jan. 27 vs. New Jersey: 40 points, 19 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in a 98-95 win against the Nets.
