Wolves Updates 3/8

To go along with its “Let’s Build It” marketing campaign, the team has a new “blueprint” for the 2008-2009 season.
The page also includes a letter signed by Al Jefferson and Randy Foye:
As our most loyal fans, we also want you to know that we are committed
to improving – both as individual players and as a team – and are
excited about the potential of our team. We feel we have a good group
of guys – guys who are fun to be around and are dedicated to winning.
As leaders, we will do our best to help Randy Wittman keep our team
headed in the right direction.
From Rashad McCants’ website:
The play of No. 1 has been one of the few bright spots for a Minnesota Timberwolves team that has seen its share of struggles and disappointment this season.
In fact, Rashad — particularly since the All-Star break — has been so
good that, from a statistical standpoint, one can’t help but wonder if
the Wolves would be better off with him on the floor more often.
Also from the player’s site:
There is no question Rashad is Minnesota’s most valuable weapon in the
second unit, but his production suggests that he might do more for the
Wolves in the starting lineup.
Mike Trudell/Timberwolves site posted a video installment of the Rhino diaries that features Craig Smith and Randy Foye discussing 2pac and Jay-Z
Wolves coach Randy Wittman wouldn’t say whether
Thornton was the second choice available on the team’s draft board when
Minnesota selected seventh overall in last summer’s draft, presumably
behind Corey Brewer.
“He was right up there,” Wittman said of Thornton.
“We looked at all those guys. (Jeff) Green, Corey and Al were the three
guys that we kind of looked at.”
With Green off the board, Minnesota selected Brewer over Thornton, who went 14th to the Clippers.
If you’ve been frustrated by Brewer’s lack of offensive game and
development this season, you might say big woop. But Wittman has found
himself looking for Brewer in the last two games and missing his
presence.
“Energy and effort,” Wittman said. “That’s definitely a plus to have guys on the floor like that, and it is missed.”
