Brandon Roy continues to haunt the Minnesota Timberwolves and keep Portland’s dimming playoff hopes alive.
Roy had 27 points and nine assists, playing biggest during a
game-deciding 12-2 run in the fourth quarter to lift Portland to a
103-96 victory Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, Roy and Foye met on the same floor for the first time in
three games this season. In a night when Foye delivered a nine-point,
eight-assist, seven-rebound game and Al Jefferson scored 18 of his 20
points in the second half, it still wasn’t enough, mainly because of a
player who has won NBA Rookie of the Year and played in an All-Star
Game before his 24th birthday.
Roy scored five points and assisted on two other baskets in that 12-2
run, when the Wolves’ shooting touch abandoned them. Jefferson made six
of nine shots in the fourth quarter and scored 12 points. His teammates
shot 2-for-13 and scored five points combined.
The Timberwolves came up short Tuesday night in their attempt to win three games in a row for the first time this season.
They had a lead late in the fourth quarter but then
went cold, lost momentum and the game 103-96 to the Portland Trail
Blazers at Target Center.

Roy, who as usual completely took over the Blazer offense in the fourth
quarter, got to the line twice in the final moments, and finished with
27 points on 9-of-20 shooting and 8-of-9 from the line. He added nine
assists and four rebounds in an impressive effort. Without argument,
Roy is a very good player. For his part, Foye, deferring to teammates
for much of the game, took half as many shots but scored nine points,
tossed eight assists and grabbed seven boards with two turnovers.
