Wolves Updates 5/5

The most telling factor on what the rest of the league thought about
the Mavs’ talent was when the Timberwolves flat laughed at a package
topped by Howard and Harris for Kevin Garnett. The two best young
players on the team, including Howard being an All-Star, drew nothing
but chuckles from the T-wolves.

By the way, Minny was right. Getting Al Jefferson from the Celtics proved to be far better than Howard/Harris combined.

Yannis Koutroupis/Hoopsworld on Jerryd Bayless:

How the lottery plays out could be more vital to Bayless than any other prospect. Right now the Timberwolves are slated to pick third, and it’s hard to imagine them taking Bayless considering their other needs and the guards they currently have that high.

A long back-and-forth between the NBA Players Association and the Heat is close to being resolved, with the Heat agreeing to return some of the fine money it took from three players (Posey, Antoine Walker, and Dorrell Wright) for not meeting Pat Riley’s draconian body-fat standards during the 2006-07 season. The thing has been dragging and dragging, in part because one of the Miami lawyers was on maternity leave, but a union source said last week that it was close to being settled.
