Lopez thinks workout “went really well”

Stanford center Brook Lopez became the first draft prospect to work out for Minnesota’s brass at Target Center…

"I thought it went really well," said a sweaty Lopez as he looked down
at assembled media members after closing the workout with full-court
drills. "I think I can come here and help the team win. I’ll do
whatever the coaches require of me and work my hardest."

Also from Trudell:
Though it’s tough to take too much away from a 1-on-0 workout, those
assembled at Target Center’s practice facility must have noticed that
Lopez comes just as big (7-0, 260) as advertised, and should have been
impressed with his range. Lopez showed an ability to knock down jumpers
all the way out to the NBA three-point line, and was consistently good
– and natural – within the college three. Though he’s not explosive a
la Amare Stoudemire, Lopez moves well and can finish with both hands
near the rim.

Kare 11 has video footage of some of the workout as well.

Trudell also talks to Lopez about the workout (video).

McHale:
Brook came in here … It’s a 1-on-0 workout. We had to incorporate
(Wolves broadcaster) Jim Petersen into the workout. He did some stuff,
he shoots it well, he did some things … We’ll do some more stuff
tomorrow. I thought he shot it a little bit better from range, he has
three-point range and (can) do some other things. We asked him to do
some stuff he probably hadn’t done before – just some specific stuff
that we wanted to see – so I’m sure tomorrow he will be a little bit
better at that stuff.

Q: On if Lopez’s shooting range surprised him:
McHale: He shot it a little better with range (than I expected). You
saw him warm-up this year when you went to see him play and you saw him
shoot the ball pretty easily from 15-18 feet. But in games he kind of
just went on that right box and stayed there, and just shot everything
over his left shoulder. But again, if it works, why change it? We were
able to see him do some different things, put him in situations where
he had to put the ball on the floor, change direction and stuff like
that, that I wanted to see.

From Kare 11:
Lopez said Tuesday he thinks he can help the Timberwolves win.
