From Sid Hartman:
There were seven members of the Wolves in the practice gym Tuesday after the coaches worked out possible draft choices. Guards Sebastian Telfair and Randy Foye were the latest to join the group that will spend a lot of time trying to improve by working out together this summer.
Corey Brewer, the Wolves’ top draft choice last year, and second-round pick Chris Richard will be members of the Wolves’ summer league team that will compete with 20 other teams in Las Vegas in a tournament in July. The Wolves also will take their free agents to Las Vegas. Winona State star guard Jonte Flowers could be on the team.
Antoine Walker’s agent said he has talked to the Wolves "a bunch" about finding a solution for a former All Star who has one year (at $9.3 million) remaining on his contract and presumably no prospects of playing much on such a young team. Walker did not play the final 30 games last season.
Charley Walters/Pioneer Press on Wolves owner Glen Taylor:
As for the Wolves becoming more competitive, Taylor said, "It was hard for (the Lakers’) Kobe Bryant,
no matter how good he is. The Celtics could focus their defense on him,
and he didn’t get the support he needed. On the other hand, the Celtics
had a number of guys who came through.

"It just showed me that you don’t want to get down
to relying on one guy. You better have about three guys — they don’t
have to be all-stars — but like San Antonio and Boston, three guys who
in any game can do well.

"Though we have Al Jefferson, and we’re hoping that Randy Foye comes along, there has to be a third part of that."
At the time, McHale’s connections to the Celtics and to Ainge were
offered as reasons for the trade, silly then and silly now. But
watching a player who served as his tent pole for more than a decade
win a title the first chance he got playing elsewhere didn’t put McHale
in the most generous mood.

"Here, probably, we were asking him to do a little too much stuff," the
Wolves VP conceded. "They put together a nice veteran team of guys who
fit really well."

And the fact is, McHale would make the trade again tomorrow, were it pitched tomorrow. As well he should.
From Eddie Sefko/Dallas Morning News on Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle:
Carlisle’s staff
includes assistants Terry Stotts and Dwane Casey, both of whom have
