Wolves Updates 7/22

The Wolves now have two point guards, not just one, after the team
today reached agreement on a multi-year deal with unrestricted free
agent Sebastian Telfair.

Telfair’s agent, Andy Miller (yes, that Andy Miller, KG’s agent),
confirmed the agreement Monday night, which probably will be announced
on Tuesday. He would not reveal years or money, but the Wolves declined
to make Telfair a one-year qualifying offer because it would have
guaranteed him $3.5 million next season.

The Timberwolves are set to embark on their 2008 U.S.
Bank/Minnesota Timberwolves Summer Caravan, which will hit the road
Tuesday beginning in Mankato. Wolves forwards Corey Brewer and Ryan
Gomes will
headline this summer’s Caravan events. Over the past 18 years, the
Timberwolves Caravan has made 85 stops across Minnesota and the upper
Midwest.

Matt Moore/Fanhouse lists Kevin Love as the #2 player at the Las Vegas Summer League.
You know how some people’s college game just doesn’t
transfer to the pro game? Yeah, Kevin Love won’t be having that
problem. Tough, resilient, with a range of moves and offensive
versatility to go along with the sweetest, yes, outlet pass we’ve seen, Love was incredibly impressive.

Jason Fleming/Hoopsworld includes Love among the rookies who "earn themselves starting jobs from the first game."
With players like Jason Collins and Craig Smith on the roster it would seem Love would have competition in Minnesota for the right to start next to Al Jefferson. Hardly. Love will be the opening day power forward, even though his defense isn’t the greatest. He will show he can rebound, stretch the defense away from Jefferson a bit with his jump shot, and his famous outlet pass is going to be the key to many easy baskets for players like Corey Brewer, Randy Foye, Rashad McCants and Mike Miller.

Maurice Brooks/TrueHoop posts his summer league wrap-up.
Kevin Love, Wolves (No. 5): He put up points (18.0 per game), led the
league in rebounds (13.5) and threw a couple of his signature outlet
passes before shutting it down with a sore Achilles. His footwork was
perfect and he was the league’s best all-around big man.

NBADraft.net on the summer league win over the Knicks:

Pops Mensah-Bonsu was able to showcase his athleticism and
post team leading 21 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Corey Brewer has not shown much improvement
to his outside game, but he knows how to get his points in transition and off
of scramble plays. His stat line was a
respectable 10 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Blake Ahern was able to cap off a nice run
with a solid 16 point, 4 rebound performance.

softball tournament.
