Despite frequent criticisms about his size, his shooting percentages, his defense, and his ability to finish at the rim, Telfair has steadily improved during his four years in the NBA. With starter Randy Foye injured for much of 2007-08 Telfair posted the highest averages of his career in minutes (32.2), starts (51), assists (5.9), rebounds (2.3), and field goal percentage (40.1%).
Telfair may never be a true starter at point guard in the NBA, but as a backup he is a solid addition to a team. His teammates like him, he is a leader, and he will give everything he has in practice and in games.
Timberwolves guard Rashad McCants will host his second "Shoot for the Cure" Friday through Sunday in Asheville, N.C.
McCants, who grew up in Asheville, created the fundraiser to establish an annual benefit for non-profit organizations in the area.
