Wolves Updates 10-3

The 6-foot-9 forward has a frame that is a little on the lumpy side. When he gets moving down the court, he doesn’t glide so much as he lumbers, elbows out to his sides and head bobbing.

Outward appearances alone, including his skin color, may lump Love in with players like Adam Keefe, Nick Collison or even teammate Mark Madsen. But the Minnesota Timberwolves rookie is showing early in his first training camp that he could be so much more.

“Kevin’s really underrated right now,” Wolves guard Rashad McCants said…

Scouting Report

-The Minnesota fans deserve better than they’ve received the last few years but with KG gone this franchise is years away from getting back to the playoffs. Only George W would probably do worse. There’s not much here.
-Al Jefferson is a nice player but when he’s your best one your team isn’t going anywhere.
-Unfortunately the blame is going to be put on Randy Wittman and when the team struggles on the court
-The roster is made up of guys who filled out the roster for many other teams.
-The question is, how many 12th men can you have on one roster?
-Kevin Love is said to be the future but it’s not completely clear whether he is the real deal.

For a young kid, he picks up things very, very quickly, probably quicker than most other guys. And he makes adjustments very quickly. You tell him to do something, he works on it that day, and he incorporates it the next day when he’s playing.

At 6 feet 9, 188 pounds, Wolves swingman Corey Brewer is built like a swizzle stick. Noting that Brewer has put on eight pounds since last season, Wolves vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale said, “I can put on eight pounds in a week. He was drinking 1,200-calorie shakes to put on weight.”

With the added pressure of high expectations for this season, head coach Randy Wittman has also put a great deal of stock into Foye. Wittman expects Foye to direct the tempo of the game and the flow of the offense on his own, without too much babysitting from the bench. He also expressed a need for his point guard to have thick skin. “I’m harder on my point guards than anybody else,” admitted Wittman. “He’s an extension of me out there on the floor. The more I can sit there and watch the game, the better.”

Minnesota’s patience is wearing thin with Corey Brewer. The Wolves are reportedly fielding offers for the multifaceted forward and are tempted to allow him to walk after this season…

The Wolves have a steady young core but inexperience and inconsistency will hurt them. In a few years they may be able to compete in the West, but this time they’ll be fortunate to end up 10th in the conference.

Another name on the GOP side of the ledger that’s no surprise is Glen Taylor. The Minnesota Timberwolves owner grew up on a farm in Comfrey, Minnesota…

Taylor and his wife Becky have contributed at least $48,900 to federal GOP candidates and causes so far this election cycle. That total includes $17,200 for the state GOP.
