Game previews:
Already shorthanded, the Timberwolves will be down two more players for Wednesday night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Shooting guard Randy Foye watched today’s practice with a walking boot on the right ankle he sprained with 5:31 remaining in Monday night’s 110-99 loss to Washington.
Reserve forward Rodney Carney missed the second half of that game after suffering a deep bruise to his groin/lower abdomen and also is out.
Carney said he aims to play again Friday against New York. Foye said he could put pressure on his right foot Tuesday. He received treatments after Monday’s game and Tuesday morning and took an electrical stimulation machine home with him to continue rehabilitation on his own.
“It feels good to me,” Foye said after Tuesday’s practice. “I would try to play tomorrow. They told me to sit out 48 hours and see how it feels.”
Foye’s hip, which caused him to miss Friday’s game at the Los Angeles Lakers, bothered him again Monday before he sprained his ankle. He nearly got hurt again after the alley-oop play when he had to scoot himself off the court while still flat on the floor because teammate Kevin Love was headed back down the floor rumbling toward a slam dunk.
Foye’s injury is yet another blow to a team that is 1-12 without Jefferson and lost forward Corey Brewer to a season-ending knee injury a month into the season.
With 19 games to go, though, they have no choice but to play on.
“Like we’ve said, nobody is going to feel bad for us,” Foye said. “Eighty percent of the people are happy that we’re struggling like this. The other 20 just don’t care.”
Note: Jefferson will be available to the media Wednesday for the first time since his Feb. 18 surgery.
From Mike Max/WCCO:
Look for the Minnesota Timberwolves to trade one of their three first round picks.
People who know will verify that players truly enjoy playing for head coach Kevin McHale. But sometimes he must not feet the same way, saying he’s not happy about how the team has been playing.
“You gotta give effort every night. Effort should not be something that wanes and ebbs and flows. Effort’s got to be something that has to be consistent,” said McHale.

The Timberwolves will have to forgive sports fans if they don’t applaud a billionaire owner seeking pats on the back for doing what he should’ve done long ago.
You have to wonder if these enhancements are permanent. So I asked Johnson.
“Who knows,” was his answer.
That in all likelihood means no.
When the Timberwolves and other teams rescind their fan- friendly initiatives — and they will — there won’t be a press release or follow-up e-mail.
