McHale said he wants to wait until after the morning shootaround before deciding whether guard Randy Foye or forward Rodney Carney will play tonight against the New York Knicks.
Foye said after Thursday’s practice that his sprained right ankle is good to go.
“It’s up to him, but I’ll let him know that I feel good,” he said. “If he decides not to suit me up, I’m OK with that, but I definitely do want to play.”

Miller, of course, said there wasn’t much different about his approach. He has spent much of the season saying he needed to make the extra pass to help the Wolves offense. He still believes that.
“One thing I’ve always believed in is everyone likes to shoot, but somebody has to make plays for someone else,” Miller said. ”This year, I’ve been trying to make plays. But, if I’m open, I’m going to shoot it.”
Even Miller said coming out with a more aggressive mindset helped him get into a rhythm. Everyone saw the results as the Wolves won in lopsided fashion, breaking a 10-game losing streak.
Timberwolves rookie Kevin Love got his first look at live hockey when he took in the Wild-San Jose game at the Xcel Energy Center this week.
“It’s up-tempo; I like it,” Love said. “And the fans here pack it in every game, and I like that.”

McHale’s confidence in Love’s continuing development stems from Love’s incredible work ethic.
“I tell you what, he’s a worker,” said McHale. “He’s working constantly out there. The ball goes up and now it’s getting to the point where if he doesn’t get it you’re thinking what’s wrong with him. He’s just a relentless worker with great, great, great instincts.”

It’s hard to second-guess the deal that brought Kevin Love to the Timberwolves from the Memphis Grizzlies, with the former UCLA star having posted his 20th 20-20 double-double of the season in the victory here Wednesday. He leads the rookies in this category. … Ryan Gomes, enjoying a great season despite the Wolves’ poor record, has led the team in scoring the past four games with an average of 22.3 points.

In Wednesday’s win over Memphis, Gomes had 25 points in 33 minutes. Over his last 15 games, the last 14 without Jefferson, Gomes has averaged 19.3 points. Though part of that production is simply due to Jefferson’s absence, Gomes has been the most consistent all-around player since the devastating injury on a team that took several weeks to emerge from the post-Jefferson funk. The Wolves are just 2-12 without him.
“Some games you’re not going to have your greatest nights and you’re not going to play your best, but the effort has to be there and the energy has to be there,” Gomes said. “That’s what we have to look at.”
The best basketball player in the Target Center on Wednesday night was reclining in the fifth row, pizza and fries on her plate and a baby in her tummy. That player, of course, was Candace Parker, WNBA MVP and Rookie of the Year and child bride of the Wolves’ lumbering Shelden Williams. On another night, such a star sighting might have been a welcome break from the pain of another Wolves loss. But on this night, friends, the gloom lifted.
When Villanova alumnus and current Minnesota Timberwolves player Randy Foye walks onto the parquet floor of the Wachovia Center on March 25, he’ll be doing more than just playing in a basketball game.
Returning to the same area that gave him an opportunity to play college basketball and earn his degree, Foye will be giving back. The game between the Timberwolves and the Philadelphia 76ers will serve as a fundraiser for the Randy Foye Foundation, and give all of ‘Nova Nation the chance to see what being a true and successful wildcat is all about.

It’s the marquee charity event to raise money for the Timberwolves Fastbreak Foundation. The foundation benefits youth programs across the state.
