David Thorpe/ESPN includes Kevin Love on his All-Rookie First Team and names him this season’s best rookie rebounder.
By far the best rebounder in this class (9.0) and is amongst the world’s elite in this category.
From RandBall (who also posts a video of Kevin Love shattering the backboard while in high school):
Love, by the way, will be appearing on this Sunday’s episode of “Sports Science” on Fox Sports Net.
Entering Wednesday’s game at the Golden State Warriors, Love is averaging 25 minutes a game, 11.1 points and nine rebounds. The 6-10 rookie ranks third in the league in total offensive rebounds, averaging 3.4 a game, trailing only the Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard and the Charlotte Bobcats’ Emeka Okafor, who both play more minutes. Love’s 26 double-doubles leads all first-year players.
The Clippers’ Eric Gordon and the Timberwolves’ Kevin Love, formerly of UCLA, played against each other for the third time in their brief NBA careers…
Love has developed well under the guidance of Coach Kevin McHale.
“I’ve known him for a long time, and it looks like he’s adjusted a lot better,” Gordon said Tuesday in the Clippers locker room after the loss to Minnesota.
“I remember playing him earlier in the season and he was just trying to find his niche. He’s been really aggressive, especially on the rebounding end. I think he had 15 rebounds. He was going after each rebound. That’s what makes him a really tough player.”
