From a Timberwolves press release:
Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has requested waivers on guard Antonio Daniels.
Daniels, who was acquired in a trade with New Orleans on Sept. 9, did not appear in a game with the Wolves this preseason. The 6-4 guard has played in 867 career games over his 12-year career, including stops in Vancouver, San Antonio, Portland, Seattle, Washington and New Orleans. Originally selected by Vancouver with the fourth overall pick of the 1997 NBA Draft, Daniels owns career averages of 7.6 points and 3.4 assists per game.
Daniels had one season left on his contract, at $6.6 million. Hopeful he could sign one more significant contract before he retires, he didn’t want to play for a rebuilding Wolves team where, unless there was an injury, he’d play little behind Jonny Flynn and Ramon Sessions.
Veteran center Mark Blount is in the same situation. Expect a similar result with him soon.
